Background Information on the School of Happiness
- Initiative of the Bodoland Territorial Council: This initiative has been planned for a year by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), which controls the BTR.
- Addressing Regional Conflicts: Ethnic conflicts and extremism have occurred in the BTR. In an area characterised by many faiths, cultures, and nationalities, the school seeks to foster human values and coexistence.
- The Vision of BTC: It emphasises the need of formal education in peace-building and happiness in order to produce peace ambassadors for conflict resolution.
The idea for the school
- Pilot project came from the Bodoland Happiness Mission, a pilot initiative launched a year ago.
- Peace Volunteer Training: At the Bodoland Community Counselling Centres, around 400 youth and community leaders were trained as peace and happiness volunteers.
- The programme featured training on social problem laws, prejudice elimination, self-awareness, counselling skills, and stress management.
