The Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) fellowships programme has been launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The VAIBHAV Programme
- The program’s goal is to connect the Indian STEMM diaspora with Indian academic and research organisations.
- It encourages collaborative research, knowledge sharing, and the sharing of best practises in cutting-edge science and technology.
Eligibility and Implementation
- Implementing Agency: Ministry of Science and Technology’s Department of Science and Technology (DST).
- Beneficiaries: excellent Indian-origin scientists/technologists (NRI/OCI/PIO) working in research in their respective countries.
- Benefits: Monthly grant of INR 400,000, international and domestic travel expenses, lodging, and contingencies
- 75 fellows will be chosen to work in 18 designated knowledge verticals, including quantum technology, health, pharmaceuticals, electronics, agriculture, energy, computer sciences, and material sciences.
- Collaborations: The VAIBHAV Fellow will work with Indian HEIs, universities, and/or publicly sponsored scientific institutions.
- R&D Activity: The fellow may spend up to two months each year in an Indian institution for a maximum of three years.
Summit & Participation in VAIBHAV
- The VAIBHAV Summit was organised by the Government of India to connect the Indian STEMM diaspora with Indian institutions.
- The summit was started by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, and approximately 25,000 people attended.
- More than 70 nations’ Indian STEMM diaspora participated in the discussions.
